The Foothills is a private residential community located in the hills northeast of Santa Rosa and is designated as a Vacation Rental Exclusion Zone.
Maintained as rural habitat, it consists of over 1000 acres of rolling oak and conifer woodlands with hiking and horse trails, a community lake, and a small pond. The area is rich in wildlife and native plants, including large stands of White Oak and Redwoods.
Many of the homes and trees were destroyed by the Tubbs fire in October 2017 but Mother Nature, with the help of Father Time, has begun her restoration process, and wildflowers, grasses and seedlings are springing to life. Deer, turkeys, bobcats and other wildlife have returned to their habitat once more and are thriving.
